CAINE MEYER
Launching my professional career in 2016, I have since continued my passion as a student of the horse as an independent trainer, behavioral consultant, and professional dressage rider, as well as assistant trainer for Amelia Newcomb Dressage in Somis. I am confident in my unique methods, skill, and education, influenced by the horsemanship of Warwick Schiller, the science of operant conditioning, and the understanding of a well fitted saddle and correctly trimmed hoof. Incorporating positive reinforcement, biomechanics, and rider position into my background of dressage and hunter/jumpers allows for the relaxation, willingness, and happiness of my horses to thrive in our time together. I am committed to the importance of clean groundwork and to there being ‘no fireworks’ in training, whether I am starting a horse under saddle, conditioning and rehabilitating, or problem solving. I greatly value the principles of patience and two-way communication to ensure that the horses I work with are healthy in mind and body and to show owners and riders the importance and reward of always putting the horse first.
